33 Before Using the Handset
Using the UIM (FOMA card)
The UIM (FOMA card) is a card in which your phone number and other information are recorded. Insert
the UIM into the FOMA terminal to use it.

Inserting/removing the UIM
Use your FOMA terminal with the UIM inserted. If the UIM is not inserted in your FOMA terminal, first insert it.

Turn the power off and remove the back cover and the battery pack before inserting or removing the UIM.

Insert or remove the UIM with the FOMA terminal closed using both hands.

Insert or remove the UIM carefully as forcing it may damage the card.
●
Carefully handle the removed UIM so that it does not become lost.

Slide the lid of the UIM case in the
direction of the arrow.
This will unlock the lid.

Open the lid of the UIM case.

Insert the UIM fully in the slot inside the
lid in the direction of the arrow shown in
the figure.

Close the lid of the UIM case and slide
the lid in the direction opposite to that
shown in Step
a
until it clicks and is
locked in place.

If you cannot close the lid of the UIM case
successfully, slide the UIM a little in the direction
opposite to the insert position.

Open the lid of the UIM case.
