NTERFACE
This command is used to enable CAC on an interface. Once CAC is enabled on
an interface, existing calls are allowed to continue. Bandwidth reservation/call
threshold checks are applicable only for new calls. As long as the older calls are
on, bandwidth is not guaranteed for any calls as bandwidth reservation is done
only for newer calls, but the same bandwidth could be utilized by older calls for
some time.
Note: CAC functionality is available on the backup interface also. You need to have the CAC
configuration on the backup interface for CAC to be functional.
If bandwidth is
specified, then the QoS policy should be configured on the interface. When a primary
interface goes down, the backup interface comes up, and the calls will be transferred
on the backup interface and corresponding bandwidth will be reserved.
If sufficient bandwidth is not available on the backup interface, all the calls using lower
bandwidth and having maximum duration will be selectively transferred till the
complete utilization of backup interface bandwidth. Other calls will be terminated
gracefully.
