19.4.1.2 Scan Engine Interface Board (Scanner Pocket area)
The following two LEDs on the Scan Engine Interface board (visible at the bottom of the Scanner
Pocket), can be used to troubleshoot problems related to unsuccessful docking of the Scan Engine in
the SuperCart. In order to easily view these LEDs, the following troubleshooting steps should be
followed.
1.
Remove the Scan Engine from the SuperCart
2.
Ensure the SuperCart is connected to AC power, and the circuit breaker at the back of the
system is turned “on” (this can be verified by the illumination of the LEDs on the rear of the
Main Board)
3.
Verify that the amber (yellow) LED is illuminated. This LED indicates the presence of +5V
being supplied from the SuperCart chassis to the Scanner Interface Board (in the pocket). This
LED should always be “on” when the SuperCart has power applied (main circuit breaker on)
4.
Using your hand, press the Scanner pocket docking mechanism fully downward until it lightly
seats against its mechanical stop. After approximately 3 seconds, the green LED should
illuminate, indicating a successful docking detection (by the opto-sensor at the bottom of the
Scanner Pocket), and successful detection of the Eject latch being released (second optical
sensor).
NOTE
: The turning on of this green LED is a “
AND
” function, where BOTH optical sensors
must be read successfully in order for the Cart Main Board logic to activate the LED. If either
sensor fails, the LED will not illuminate.
5.
While continuing to hold the docking mechanism fully down, and while observing the green
LED, press (and hold) the Scan Engine eject button. The green LED should turn “off” when
the eject button is held down, and illuminate again when this button is released. This indicates
the proper operation of the opto-sensor on the eject mechanism, and subsequent proper
removal of +12V power to the scanner pocket (by the control of the Main Board) during the
Scan Engine ejection process
................ “VDOCK” (+12V Power to Pocket) – “on” only when Scanner is docked
“5V CON” (+5V Power to Pocket) – “always on”, when Cart has power
