16.2  “Advanced” Software Installation Procedure

In cases where the revision level of the software on the z.one is being 
transitioned in a non-standard fashion, or has become corrupted and the system 
will not boot to perform a normal software installation process (as described in 
section 4 of this Tech Note), the following advanced software installation steps 
should be used. 

16.2.1  Interrupting the normal boot sequence (“Alternate Boot Options”): 

1.

 

Verify the Scan Engine is initially powered off 

2.

 

Disconnect transducer from Scan Engine, if currently attached. 

3.

 

Remove (un-dock) the Scan Engine from the SuperCart (if currently docked). 

4.

 

Open the rear access door on the Scan Engine, and insert the USB Memory Stick fully into the 
USB port, ensuring it is seated in the connector. 

5.

 

IMMEDIATELY abort the normal boot sequence by pressing (and holding) the Back 

  key on 

the user interface of the SuperCart (or Scan Engine, if undocked), within a few seconds after 
pressing the power button. 

 

6.

 

The Scan Engine should abort the normal boot, and display a screen (shown on the following page) 
offering a variety of options.
