Chapter 9 PERIODIC INSPECTION

1. Before beginning work
Periodic inspection and maintenance are essential to ensure safe and efficient operation of
YAMAHA robots. This chapter describes periodic inspection for the controller. Before beginning
work, read the precautions in this chapter and also in Chapter 1,“Using the robot safety”, and
follow the instructions.
2. Periodic inspection
2.1 Daily inspection
The following inspection must be performed every day before and after operating the robot.
1. Inspection to be performed with the controller power turned off

WARNING
• Turn off The conTroller power swiTch on The conTrol panel or The
primary power source.
• place a sign “work in progress” in order To keep oTher persons from
operaTing The conTroller power swiTch.
Check the following points.
Check points Check items
Ground terminal Check the terminal for looseness. Tighten if loose.
Power supply connector
Check the power supply connector for looseness.
Securely connect if loose.
Power cable
Check if the power cable is securely connected to the
power supply connector.
Securely connect the cable if not properly connected.
Robot cable
Check if the robot cable is securely connected to the
controller.
Securely connect the cable if not properly connected.
Cables
Check for scratches, excessive bending, and loose
connectors.
2. Inspection to be performed with the controller power turned on

Before turning on the controller power, check that no one is within the safety enclosure.
•
Place a sign “Work in progress” in order to keep other persons from operating the
controller, programming box, and control panel.
•
Perform inspection from outside the safety enclosure.
