RFC testing provides a specific set of tests that can be used to measure and report the
performance characteristics of network devices. The RFC Tests Conf screen provides
the preliminary stream configuration settings. After these settings are made the user
selects the type of RFC test to initiate by choosing its tab along the left side of the RFC
Tests screen.
The following options appear on the Conf screen:
Option Description
Test For GFP, the only Performance Test option supported is
RFC-2544 .
If this button is disabled, then only the selected
Performance Standard Test is currently available.
Dest Port The destination Port setting is not supported on the MPA.
Trial Duration Determines how long the test runs for each packet size. This
duration is used each time the test fails. Valid duration values
are 1-86400 seconds. The default value is 60 seconds.
Stream ID Allows the user to select one of the four streams for the RFC
test.
Dest MAC
Address Reflects the destination MAC address for the selected
Stream.
The Dest MAC Address is configured for the selected
Stream ID from the Traffic Stream Profile on the Conf screen.
For Fibre Channel rates, this is the WWN Dest Address .
Restore to RFC
Standard Setting Returns frame sizes to default RFC test standards when user-
defined sizes have been set.
Enable/Disable
check boxes Allows the user to select the packet sizes that will be used for
the RFC tests.
Packet Sizes Displays the packet sizes. Selecting a Packet Size button
allows the user to assign a user-defined frame size to the
packet.
Valid value ranges are 64 - 16000.
