Results 

SONET Results Screens and Functions 

  

All monitored activity that the system receives is reported to the Results screen for 
viewing and analyzing. The Results screen provides information used for analyzing the 
incoming signal, pattern, errors, and alarms. 

The following options are available from the Results screen:

SONET Results - Error / Alarm 

  

The Results Error / Alarm screen contains the following options: 

•

 

Scan

 - Select Scan to access a quick summary of incoming errors and alarms. It 

is effective in identifying a general area to investigate when error or alarm activity 
is detected. This function displays a list of received errors and alarms. For 
alarms, the duration is reported as a count in seconds. For errors, an error count 
is reported. 

When no activity is occurring, the screen displays "

No Errors or Alarms

"

Errors

 - The unit can monitor and report errors on the incoming SONET signal. 

The Errors function provides a detailed analysis of the incoming error as 
described below. The reported errors are a result of incoming errors that are 
generated by the SONET network, or errors that are intentionally generated by 
the system when it is used in a loopback environment.
