RAM SIMM
The printer accepts either a 16-MByte and or a 32-Mbyte RAM SIMM.
1.
Power down the printer. Leave the power cord plugged in to provide
a ground path for static discharges.
2.
Loosen the two rear panel securing screws. Slide out the main board.
Note
Connector J88 already contains a 16-Mbyte RAM SIMM. A
16-Mbyte RAM SIMM must always occupy connector J88. A Kanji
version printer will also contain an 8-MByte RAM SIMM in
connector J9. The 8-MByte RAM SIMM can be replaced with a
larger SIMM.
3.
Insert a memory module (16-Mbyte or 32-Mbyte) in connector J9 (
a
)
next to J88, and tilt the module down until it locks in place (
b
), If J9 is
already occupied by a SIMM, install the new SIMM in connector J89.
When properly inserted, a tab on each end of the connector slips into a
hole on each end of the RAM SIMM. Also, a pawl on each end of the
connector latches around each end of the RAM SIMM to lock it in
place.
4.
Reinstall the main board into the printer. Reconnect the host interface
cables. Turn on the printer and print the startup page; it lists the
amount of memory installed in the printer.
