Checks and Adjustments
Adjusting the horizontal image interleave (skip)
Note Be sure to perform the scale factor adjustment before you make this
skip adjustment.
1.
Ensure the printer is at its normal operating condition.
2. Set the front panel menu item Print Quality to Standard.
3. Load the paper tray with a stack of quality, Letter-size or A4-size
paper. Examples of quality paper s are: Hammermill Laser Print,
Northwest Gloss 80 Text, and Xerox 4024 DP 28 lb.
4. Scroll to the extended service support menu by first scrolling to the
front panel menu item Service Support and then pressing buttons 1
and 4 together.

Scroll to the front panel menu item Calibrate Skip and Scan.
6. At the sub-menu item Skip Calibration Image, print two test prints.
Discard the first print and use the second print.
Note For this test, the scan value is temporarily offset by +40,
automatically, to make it easier to see the horizontal misalignment
(skip).
7. Examine the portion of the test print called “Skip Calibration Image;”
it indicates the currently set skip offset value. Arrows indicate, for
each color, the areas in which the image halves overlap or interleave.
With the magnifier, examine these interleave areas.
Ideally, the vertical lines of the left half should be evenly spaced
between the vertical lines of the right half.
8. Each line is about 300 millipoints wide. (A millipoint is 1/7200 of an
inch). If the lines are not evenly spaced, estimate a value, in
millipoints, which should shift the lines into alignment with each
other. (All six groups of test lines may not be exactly the same, it may
be necessary to choose a value which compromises for the best overall
appearance.)
