Cleaning and
Maintenance
The printer requires periodic cleaning to keep it in peak operating condition.
Some cleaning procedures, such as purging the ink-jets or feeding clean paper
through the paper path, are done automatically when necessary. Other
procedures, such as scrubbing the feed rollers with an alcohol-soaked cleaning
card, must be done by customers.
The printer should be cleaned when any of the following symptoms occur:
■
Light stripes or missing colors appear in prints.
■
Ink smears or random streaks appear on the front or back of prints.
■
Oily spots appear along the top of prints.
■
Mispicks or multiple picks occur at the media tray.
■
Persistent paper jams inside the printer or at the media tray.
Most print-quality and media-transport problems can be cured by initiating
cleaning procedures available through the printer’s front panel menu.
Note
Paper jams can also occur when the maintenance tray is not properly
latched in the printer. Simultaneously push in on both sides of the
maintenance tray to ensure that it is properly seated.
