Troubleshooting
Running tests
A print engine test is performed by the printer’s 68K processor. The test is
downloaded from the diagnostics to the 68K processor. When a downloadable
test is selected, it takes a few moments to download the test. While the test is
downloading, the message bar indicates this fact and the completion indicator
shows how much of the file has been loaded. A different message is issued for
ROM-resident (29K processor) image processor tests and there is no
downloading.
1. Press the Return key to enter the test group selection window. Choose
the View menu item to select between “29K Tests” and “68K Tests”.
2. Use the arrow keys to scroll through the list of tests suites. Press the
Tab
key to select a test suite.
Note The test System Verification is a good, general purpose test of all the
printer’s sub-systems. It is a particularly good test to run when you
are unsure of the cause of a printer’s problem.
