Adjusting the scale factor
1.
Turn on the printer and allow it to warm up to its normal operating
condition. Ideally, 45 minutes from a cold start is best to ensure the
printer is thermally stable.
2.
Set the front panel menu item Print Quality to Standard. Set Color
Correction
to None.
3.
Load the paper tray with a stack of quality, Letter-size or A4-size
paper.
4.
Scroll to the extended service support menu by first scrolling to the
front panel menu item Service Support and then pressing buttons
1 and 4 together.
5.
Scroll to the front panel menu item Calibrate Scale Factor. Press the
menu button to get the Subjective A Scale Factor. Press the Print
button to print a test print.
6.
With a loupe, examine the 7-line sets of fine vertical lines making up
the print. They should be evenly spaced. If every 7th line is too close
(overscan) or to far (underscan) from the 1st line of the next set, dark
lines or light lines, respectively, will appear in the print.
7.
If a correction is needed, scroll to the menu item Set Scale Factor A.
Press the menu button. Lower the displayed value to reduce overscan
and eliminate dark lines. Increase the displayed value to increase
underscan and eliminate light lines. The scale factor range is 10200 to
9800. Typical calibration values vary between 10015 to 9985.
8.
Scroll the menu button to get the Subjective B Scale Factor. Press the
Print button to print a test print.

Set Scale Factor B Left
