Cleaning for ink smears and transfix problems: internal paper path
If the prints have stray ink marks on the front or the back or the media is
wrapping around the transfix roller inside the exit cover, you can correct the
problem by cleaning the printer’s internal paper path. The printer automatically
feeds 5 sheets of paper through the print path when you run the
Clean:Ink
Smears
routine from the front panel.
1.
When the printer is on and the
Ready
message or the printer’s name
appears, press the
Clean
button. The printer displays the first
selection in the menu:
Clean:Light Stripes
<---- Clean Test

Press the left arrow
(<---)
button until the following message
appears:
Clean:Ink Smears
<---- Clean Test
3.
Press the
Clean
button to enter cleaning the sub-menu:
Clean:Ink Smears
Quick Extended
4.
Select the desired cleaning mode.
5.
If you select
Quick
, then the printer sequentially picks and passes five
sheets of paper through the paper path. Each sheet removes ink from
the paper preheater. The front panel returns to the
Clean
menu.
