Cruise Control Sw itch Testing
NOTE:
Switch terminals are id en tified on th e
term inal end of the switch. Numb ers I and 4
do not ha ve termina ls and are blank.
1. U sing an ohmmeter tou ch one ohmmeter
test pro be to termin al 2 of the cruis e
contro l switch .
Tou ch the other ohmmeter prob e to
terminal 3.
2. Press the cruise control switch from th e
"O FF" position and ho ld th e switch to
the "SET" p osition .
Observe the oh mmeter. The o hmmet er
shou ld show little or no resistance
indicating continuity.
If there is n o continu ity, the switch is
defective and n eeds replaced .
3. To uch on e ohmmeter test probe to
terminals 5 and th e other probe to
terminal 6 .
4. Press the cruise control switch from th e
"SET" position and hold th e switch to
the "
SET " p osition .
Observe the ohmmeter. The ohmmet er
shou ld show little or no resistance
indicating continuity.
If th ere is no con tinuity, the sw itch is
defective and n eeds replaced.
5 . Co ntinu e to hold o hmmeter test probes
to termin al 2 and 3 of th e switch and let
th e switch rocker from the "SET"
position to the "ON " position. Observe
th e ohmmet er. The ohmmeter should
show little or no resistan ce indicating
con tinuity.
If there is n o con tinuity, the switch is
defective and n eed s replaced .
NOTE :
Th e cru ise control switch ind ica tor ligh t is
not servicea ble and can not be rep laced . If
the ligh t is d efective, the cruise control
switch must be replaced.
6. To test the internal light bulb for th e
sw itch, tou ch an ohmmeter test probe to
terminal 7 and the other oh mmeter t est
probe to terminal 8 of the cruise control
sw itch. Observe the oh mmeter. The
oh mmeter should show b etween 18 and
22 oh ms of resistance. I f th e resistance
is not w ithin specifications, the switch
ligh t is defective and th e switch needs
replaced .
