Remova l
1. Disconnect th e neg ativ e ( － ) b attery
cable from the b attery.
2. Disconnect the wiring h arness lead, f rom
th e fu el shutoff solenoid.
3. Using a pair of pliers, carefully remove
th e fuel s hutoff solenoid from th e
eng ine.
4. Remove and discard th e sealing washer,
1, wh ich seals the so lenoid , 2 , to th e
eng ine.
Testing
1. Using a suitable measuring device,
measure the protrusion distance, "A ", on
th e solenoid. Th e distan ce should
measure b etween 25.5 - 26.4 mm.
I f th e
distance is not w ithin these
sp ecification s, the solen oid is d efectiv e
and n eeds replaced .
NOTE:
When con necting the 12-volt power su pply to
the solenoid body, be sure paint is th e
remo ved from th e bod y. Otherwise, the po wer
will not be transferred to the solenoid.
2. U se jumper wires to connect the positiv e
(+) ter minal o f a 12 -volt power supply
to the solenoid lead, 1. Connect th e
negative terminal of th e 12 -volt po wer
supp ly to the solenoid body, 2.
Th e
plunger, 3, should retract into th e
solenoid bod y.
3. U s ing a suitable measuring dev ice,
measu re the protru sion distance, "B" on
the solen oid . The d istance should
measu re between 11.5 - 14.5 mm.
If the distan ce is not w ithin these
specifications or the plunger does n ot
retract, the soleno id is defective and
needs replaced.
Installation
Assembly of th e en gin e stop solenoid
generally fo llows th e disassemb ly in rev erse,
and installs a new sealing w asher, 1 , on th e
soleno id, 2.
