B. Checking output
If the previou s section "A" check is
satisfactory, ch eck the ou tput as follo ws:
a. A fter opening the battery sw itch ,
disconnect the ter minal B of the
alternator an d connect an ammeter (50A
capacity ) at th e position shown in
Fig.598Y.
b. Connect the vo ltmeter between th e
terminal B of the alter nator and the
ground.
C onfirm th at the voltmeter
indicates the battery vo ltag e.
c. C l ose th e k ey switch .
d. Start the engine an d turn on all the
lamp s. Immediately accelerate th e
engin e to 2000 rpm. Or more and
measu re th e maximu m value ind icated
on the ammeter.
e. I f th is valu e is more th an 70 ％ of the
nomin al output (refer to Section on
"Serv ice Specifications”), the alternator
can be considered as working almost at
is factory.
NOTE:
To make the abov e judgment more accu rate,
remove the alternato r from th e eng ine and
check it on a test bench.
5. Disassembly
a. M ark both brackets and the stator with a
scribe mark for assembly.
b. R e move th e fou r through b olts. Pry
between th e stator and front b rack et ④
with blad e o f a screwdriver.
Carefully separate th e front b racket

c. Pl ace t he rotor ⑨ in a v ice with soft
jaws and remove the pulley nut
