23) PARKING BRAKE SWITCH
Description
The park ing b rake light switch is a single
pole, push-button ty pe switch.
T h e parking
brake ligh t switch is lo cated underneath the
parking brake lever on the parking b rak e
linkag e, which is on th e right side o f the
tracto r.
W h en the parking brake is pull up
th e con tacts in the switch is clo sed.
When the p ark ing brake is pull down the
contacts in the switch is open.
Removal
NOTE:
The parking brake light switch may
be tested for continu ity without removing the
switch fro m the tractor, but it is
recommended tha t the switch b e do wn
removed for testing.
To test th e switch in
th e tractor, disconnect the two switch leads
to switch and tou ch an ohmmeter p robe to
each lead .
E n gag e and d isengage the
parking brake, using th e continuity test to
check the switch for proper op eration.
1. D isconn ect the neg ativ e (-) battery cable
from th e b attery.

Tro uble-shooting - Continuity Test
1. U sing an oh mmeter, conn ect test leads to
each terminal, 1, on the safety switch , 2 .
Observe th e ohmmeter read ing.
2. With the switch button in the "OUT"
(parking brake eng aged) po sition, the
sw itch contacts should be closed , and
there w ill be little or no resistance
indicating continuity in the switch. If
there is no continuity, th e switch is
defective and n eeds replaced .

“
(parking b rake d isengaged) position ,
th e switch contacts should be open , and
th ere will b e h igh resistance, ind icating
no continu ity in the switch .
If there is con tinuity, th e switch is
defective and n eed s replaced .
