⿎ Symbols and special characters input as the alternative
To use the following symbols in STR or BRS commands, replace them with the specified alternative characters to
distinguish the functional characters.

⿎ Inputting control codes to bar code/2D code character strings
To input the control codes in the barcode/2D code strings, set the code data as follows:
• Set the control codes with BRS or SIN command by using the following 2-byte alternative codes. In this case, set the
other characters including alphanumeric by using Shift-JIS code.
Control code NUL to US DEL
ASCII code (HEX) 00 to 1F 7F
Alternative code (HEX) F050 to F06F F071
• If you want to set FNC1 with BRS command, use the 2-byte alternative code F072 (HEX) for FNC1.

• If you want to set FNC1 with SIN command, use the 2-byte alternative code F072 (HEX), or [GS]: 1D (HEX) for FNC1. If
you set FNC1 by F072 (HEX), set the other characters including alphanumeric by using Shift-JIS code. If you set FNC1
by [GS]: 1D (HEX), set the other characters by using ASCII code.

• In BCS command you can use GS: 1D (HEX) as “FNC1” and as the separator of the Application identifiers. In the code
data it is shown as “FNC1”. For the response data for readout, it is readout as “GS”.
To set other control codes than GS or FNC1, use BRS command.
