⿎
Target commands
To specify marking characters or a file name with the following commands, enter character data.
• File selection by name: FNN
• File name: FNM
• Character entry (by ASCII code): MCS
• Character entry (by ASCII/Shift JIS code): STR
• Character entry per trigger: SIN
• Bar code/2D code characters (by ASCII code): BCS
• Bar code/2D code characters (by ASCII/Shift JIS code): BRS
• Lot character: LTS
• Registered character strings: RKS
• Graphic file: CDF

Input data
Use the ASCII code to input one-byte characters (single byte character).
Use the Shift JIS code to input two-byte characters (double byte characters).
Depending on the command, the availability of the ASCII code and Shift JIS code varies.
The following restrictions apply to the input characters depending on the data type to input:
Command
Content to be specified
Restrictions on the input characters
MCS
Marking character of
reference list (by ASCII
code)
• Only the ASCII code is available.
• Functional characters cannot be used.
• For marking characters, control codes cannot be used.
• For bar code/2D code characters, only [GS]: 1D (HEX) can be used in the
control codes.
• No line feed is allowed.
BCS
Bar code/2D code
character (by ASCII
code)
STR
Marking character of
reference list (by ASCII
and Shift-JIS code)
• The ASCII code and Shift JIS code can be mixed.
• In the response data for readout, all characters except the functional
characters are readout in Shift JIS code.
• To input the functional characters, use the ASCII code.
• For marking characters, control codes cannot be used.
• To input the control codes in the barcode/2D code data, refer to “Inputting
control codes to bar code/2D code character strings” (P.39).
• For marking characters, no linefeed is allowed.
• For bar code/2D code characters, to input the linefeed in the code data, use
the two-byte alternative codes of the linefeed control code, if the code symbol
supports the control code.
• To input “%” with ASCII code, use the alternative character.
BRS
Bar code/2D code
character (by ASCII and
Shift-JIS code)
SIN
• Character input with
SIN command
• Bar code/2D code
character input with
SIN command
• Use either ASCII code or Shift JIS code, but not both. The ASCII code and
Shift JIS code can not be mixed.
• For marking characters, control codes cannot be used.
• To input the control codes in the barcode/2D code data, refer to “Inputting
control codes to bar code/2D code character strings” (P.39).
• Functional characters cannot be used.
• For marking characters, no linefeed is allowed.
• For bar code/2D code characters, to input the linefeed in the code data, use
the two-byte alternative codes of the linefeed control code, if the code symbol
supports the control code.
