Child-proof locks
If children are travelling in the vehicle, you
can activate the child-proof locks for the
rear.
Child-proof locks for the rear doors
The child-proof locks on the rear doors en-
able you to secure each door individually. If
a door has been secured:

you will not be able to open it from the
inside
앫
you will be able to open it from the out-
side, provided the vehicle is not locked
(the locking knobs in the doors are up)

Make sure that the child-proof locks
are working properly.

You can deactivate the child-proof locks on
the rear doors for a short time. The child-proof
locks on the rear doors are deactivated for a
short time if you press the

central unlock-
ing button on the driver’s or front-passenger
door (
컄
page 256).

Risk of injury
Do not leave children unsupervised in the
vehicle, even if they are secured in a child
restraint system. They could:
앫
injure themselves on parts of the vehicle
앫
be severely or even fatally harmed by
prolonged exposure to intense heat

Risk of accident
Activate the child-proof locks for the rear
doors and rear compartment when children
are travelling in the vehicle. The children
could otherwise, for example, open doors or
windows, adjust seats or operate the ciga-
rette lighter while the vehicle is in motion
and thereby injure themselves and others.

If the child-proof locks are deactivated by
the

central locking button being
pressed, both rear doors are unlocked and
can be opened.
If the children open the door, they could:

injure other people
앫
get out of the vehicle and thereby injure
themselves or be injured by a passing
vehicle
Do not leave children unsupervised in the
vehicle; they could press the central unlock-
ing button or open a door, thereby endan-
gering themselves and others.
