Opening and closing
The vehicle will lock itself once you have
pulled away.
You can open a door from the inside at any
time, even if it has been locked.
i
The doors unlock automatically in the event
of an accident if the force of the impact exceeds
a predetermined level.
The vehicle is locked automatically when the ig-
nition is switched on and the wheels begin to
turn. You could therefore lock yourself out when
the vehicle is being pushed or is on a dynamom-
eter.
You may switch off the automatic locking
function using COMAND (
컄
page 212).
You can lock or unlock the vehicle centrally
from the inside using the central locking/
unlocking button. This feature may be use-
ful if, for example, you wish to unlock the
front-passenger door from the inside or
lock the vehicle before you pull away.
i
You can open a door from the inside at any
time, even if it has been locked. You can only
open a locked rear door from the inside if the
child-proof locks have not been activated.
i
If the rear doors have been secured with the
child-proof locks, the child-proof locks are deac-
tivated for approximately five seconds when the
central unlocking button is pressed. The rear
doors can be opened from the inside during this
time.
i
If you have previously locked the vehicle
from the outside with the remote control or the
KEYLESS GO key*, you cannot unlock it centrally
from the inside.
i
It is only possible to lock the vehicle central-
ly if the front-passenger door is closed.

danger themselves and others.
G

If the child-proof locks are deactivated by
the central locking button being pressed,
both rear doors are unlocked and can be
opened.
