Operation
Refuelling
i
As a temporary measure and only if the rec-
ommended fuel is not available, you can also use
regular unleaded petrol, 91 RON/82.5 MON.
This may reduce power and increase petrol con-
sumption. Avoid driving at full throttle.
In some countries, the quality of the petrol avail-
able may be insufficient, causing coking in the
area of the inlet valves. In such cases, consult a
Mercedes-Benz Service Centre and add the addi-
tive (Part no. A000989254510) recommended
and sold by Mercedes-Benz to the petrol. You
must observe the instructions and mixing ratios
indicated on the container.
S 600
!
Refuel using only super unleaded petrol with
a minimum octane number of 98 RON/88 MON
conforming to European standard EN 228.
There is otherwise a risk of impaired engine per-
formance or engine damage.
You will find further information about petrol in
the “Technical data” section (
컄
page 548).
i
You will generally find information on petrol
quality on the filling pump. Otherwise, ask the
filling station attendant.
i
As a temporary measure and only if the rec-
ommended fuel is not available, you can also use
premium unleaded petrol, 95 RON/85 MON.
This may reduce power and increase petrol con-
sumption. Avoid driving at full throttle.
!
If absolutely necessary, and only when the
recommended fuel is not available, you may
also use regular unleaded petrol, 91 RON/
82.5 MON. However, this will result in much
higher fuel consumption and reduced perform-
ance. Avoid driving at full throttle and only drive
in drive program S.
i
If no fuel other than regular petrol fuel
91 RON/82.5 MON or a lower grade is perma-
nently available, you should have the vehicle
adapted by the local after-sales service to run on
this fuel.
i
You will generally find information about the
diesel grade on the filling pump. You should oth-
erwise ask the filling station attendant.
In countries where diesel with a higher sul-
phur content (e.g. 0.3 percent by weight) is
available, the engine oil should be changed
at more frequent intervals.
Information about oil change intervals is
available from any Mercedes-Benz Service
Centre.
i
Conventional diesel may contain up to 5%
bio-diesel. This proportion will not have an effect
on performance and wear.
!
The following can lead to increased wear or
engine damage:
앫
using diesel which does not meet the re-
quirements of EN 590 (or comparable stand-
ards)
앫
using marine diesel fuel
앫
using heating oil
앫
using non-approved fuel additives
The use of fuels and/or fuel additives which
have not been approved will limit your warranty
entitlement.
