Driving systems
If Distronic Plus detects that the vehicle in
front has stopped, it will cause your vehicle
to brake and come to a halt.
Once your vehicle is stationary, it will re-
main so without you having to depress the
brake pedal.

Your vehicle will be secured with the electric
parking brake after a short time to relieve the
load on the service brake.
i
Depending on the specified minimum dis-
tance set using the thumbwheel on the cruise
control lever, your vehicle will come to a halt
within a distance of approximately 4 m from the
vehicle in front.
Setting the specified minimum dis-
tance for Distronic Plus
You can set the specified minimum dis-
tance for Distronic Plus by varying the time
span between 1.0 and 2.0 seconds. This
time span determines the distance that
Distronic Plus is to maintain from the vehi-
cle in front, depending on your speed. You
can see this distance in the multi-function
display.

Make sure that you adhere to the minimum
distance required by law from the vehicle in
front. Adapt your distance from the vehicle in
front if necessary.
Distance warning system

To switch on or off:
you can switch
the distance warning system on or off
using the instrument cluster operating
system (

page 245).
After the distance warning system has
been switched on, the
:
symbol ap-
pears in the left of the multi-function
display.
This function warns you when the distance
to the vehicle in front is too small, even
when Distronic Plus is deactivated:

up.

If you approach a vehicle in front at
high speed, you will also hear an inter-
mittent signal.

Risk of accident
Never get out of the vehicle when Distronic
Plus is activated.
Distronic Plus must never be operated or de-
activated by a passenger or from outside the
vehicle.
Distronic Plus does not replace the electric
parking brake and must not be used for
parking.
If you wish to leave the vehicle for a short
time or park it, deactivate Distronic Plus and
use the electric parking brake to secure the
vehicle against rolling away.
