Practical advice
Fuses
The fuses in your vehicle serve to close
down faulty circuits. If a fuse blows, all
components on the circuit and their func-
tions will fail.
i
Blown fuses must be replaced by fuses of
the same rating (identifiable by the colour and
amperage) and with the amperages recommend-
ed in the fuse allocation chart. A Mercedes-Benz
Service Centre will be happy to advise you.
If a newly fitted fuse blows, have the cause
traced and rectified at a qualified specialist
workshop, e.g. a Mercedes-Benz Service
Centre.
The following implements are available for
changing the fuses:

!
Only use fuses that have been approved for
Mercedes-Benz vehicles and which have the cor-
rect amperage for the system concerned. Other-
wise, electrical components or systems could be
damaged.
!
Switch off the internal functions of the vehi-
cle network (
컄
page 522) before working with
fuses.
The fuses are located in various fuse box-
es:

Fuse allocation chart
The fuse allocation chart is in the vehicle
tool kit in the stowage well under the boot
floor (
컄
page 425). The fuse amperage is
also indicated in this chart.
Spare fuses
Spare fuses are with the vehicle tool kit in
the stowage well under the boot floor
(

page 425).
Fuse extractor
The fuse extractor is with the vehicle tool
kit in the stowage well under the boot floor
(

Park the vehicle.
왘
Switch off all electrical consumers.
왘
Remove the key from the ignition lock.

Risk of fire
Only use fuses that have been approved for
Mercedes-Benz vehicles and which have the
correct amperage for the system con-
cerned. Do not attempt to repair or bridge
faulty fuses. A circuit overload could other-
wise cause a fire. Have the cause traced and
rectified at a qualified specialist workshop,
e.g. a Mercedes-Benz Service Centre.
