CAN/LIN Measurement Procedure
12.1 CAN/LIN Measurement Procedure
Two methods are available for CAN/LIN measurement.
You can choose an optimal method depending on your purpose (concurrent use is available).
Method Advantage
Using waveform processing
calculations
•Waveforms can be displayed after measurement.
•The waveform processing calculations are used.
•Waveforms can be computed.
•Up to 16 channels are available.
Displaying waveforms during
measurement
•Waveforms can be displayed during measurement.
•The waveform display settings are used.
•Up to 64 channels are available.
(Waveforms cannot be computed.)
Using waveform processing calculations
Connecting interfaces Connect CAN/LIN interfaces to the instrument’s USB ports.
(When the CAN/LIN measurement function has been added
by installing updated firmware, you first need to install the
driver)

Configuring the interface
settings
Set a CAN/LIN bus mode and a baud rate for each interface. (p. 280)
Configuring settings for
displaying signals as
waveforms
Set definition data for displaying CAN/LIN signals as
waveforms. You can choose definition data by loading a
DBC/LDF file.
Configure the waveform calculation settings to choose data
sets to be displayed as waveforms.

When a specific CAN/LIN frame is inputted, the instrument
starts to acquire data.

During measurement, the instrument can transmit CAN
messages at pre-set timings.

Acquiring data Press the START key to start measurement.
The instrument starts recording all CAN/LIN signals that
transmit through a bus as well as acquiring data with the
instrument’s input modules.
Performing calculation When finishing acquisition of data, the instrument shows the
message [Calculating Waveform] on the screen status bar.
You can choose a definition data set from among CAN/LIN
signals recorded to search for to display them as waveforms.

Displaying results The waveform screen displays results.
The displayed results consist of data measured with
measurement modules and CAN/LIN signals displayed as
waveforms.
