2.4 Design
An electromagnetic flowmeter includes a sensor and a transmitter.
The 1st basic type extension in the device designation relates to the design type.
2.4.1 Compact design type
In devices with a compact design, the transmitter and the sensor form a mechanical unit.
The compact design type is indicated by the digit "
1 " in the 1st basic type extension of the device desig-
nation.

2.4.2 Remote mount design type
For devices with a remote mount design, the transmitter is mounted at a separate location from the sen-
sor. The sensor is mounted in the respective pipeline, while the transmitter is mounted locally or at a cen-
tral location. A signal cable is used for the electrical connection between the sensor and the transmitter.
The remote mount design type is indicated by the digit "
2 " in the 1st basic type extension of the device
designation.

Combination of sensor and transmitter
In the remote mount design type, the sensor and transmitter combination options are determined by the
selected functionalities.

For remote mount design type devices used in potentially explosive areas, the housing design type
