g. AIR BLEEDING
<With the unit removed from the outboard motor>
• Bleed air from the unit whenever the power trim/tilt assembly
is reassembled.
• Perform air bleeding in the order of the following.
- Air bleeding with the unit removed from the outboard motor
- Hydraulic pressure inspection
- Air bleeding with the unit mounted on the outboard motor
Connect the battery cables to the power tilt motor 2P connector
terminals.
<To extend the piston rod>
Connect the battery positive (+) cable to the green terminal of
the 2P connector, and the battery negative (-) cable to the blue
terminal.
<To compress the piston rod>
Connect the battery negative (-) cable to the green terminal of
the 2P connector, and the battery positive (+) cable to the blue
terminal.
Connect the battery cables to the power tilt motor 2P connector
terminals with care not to short-circuit the connector.
1) Place the power trim/tilt assembly on its side with the oil
filler port toward up.
2) Check that the manual valve is loosened. Using a syringe,
pour the ATF (automatic transmission fluid) into the oil tank
fully. Be sure to pour the ATF through the oil filler port
slowly not to foam it.
3) After filling, tighten the manual valve securely.
• The oil hole cap must be removed this time.
4) Connect the battery cables to the power tilt motor
2P connector terminals to extend the piston rod fully.
(Perform <To extend the piston rod> shown above.)
• While extending the piston rod, pour the ATF through the
oil filler port to keep the oil tank filled fully.
5) Connect the battery cables to the power tilt motor
2P connector terminals to compress the piston rod fully.
(Perform <To compress the piston rod> shown above.)
• Do not install the oil hole cap this time and let the ATF
flow out.
6) Repeat the step 4 and 5 several times.
• Repeat the procedure until the piston rod moves
smoothly.
7) After checking that the piston rod moves smoothly,
connect the battery cables to the power tilt motor
2P connector terminals to extend the piston rod fully.
(Perform <To extend the piston rod> shown above.)
• While extending the piston rod, pour the ATF through the
oil filler port to keep the oil tank filled fully.
