5) While applying the specified air pressure to the gear case,
turn the vertical shaft five or six turns clockwise.
Be sure to turn the vertical shaft clockwise, or damage to
the pump impeller can occur.
NOTICE
6) While applying the specified air pressure to the gear case,
turn the propeller shaft right and left two or three turns.
7) Leave the gear case for five minutes and then check that the
air pressure is maintained.
8) If the air pressure drops, soak the gear case in a container
filled with water. Apply the specified air pressure to the
gear case again, move the shift rod B, vertical shaft and the
propeller shaft, and locate the point where the air is
leaking.
9) Remove the water seal or O-ring from the rod or shaft
where the air is leaking.
10) After replacing the water seal or O-ring, perform pressure
check again and be sure that the air is not leaking.
11) Remove the gear case pressure tester and the adapter from
the gear case.
Install a new 6.9 x 1.45 mm O-ring on the oil check bolt, and
tighten the oil check bolt to the specified torque.
TORQUE: 6.5 N.m (0.7 kgf.m, 4.8 lbf.ft)
