• CAMSHAFT JOURNAL OIL CLEARANCE
1) Clean the journals of the cylinder head, camshaft and the
cam holder, and check the journals for wear or damage.
2) Place a plastigauge on each journal of the camshaft as
shown.
• Place the plastigauge in the axial direction.
4) Remove each cam holder.
Measure the pressed width of the plastigauge using the
scale printed on the bag of the plastigauge.
3) Set the 8 x 14 mm dowel pin on each cam holder, and
install the cam holder.
Tighten the eight 6 x 70 mm flange bolts and the two 6 x 35
mm flange bolts to the specified torque.
TORQUE:
6 x 70 mm flange bolt: 14 N.m (1.4 kgf.m, 10 lbf.ft)
6 x 35 mm flange bolt: 12 N.m (1.2 kgf.m, 9 lbf.ft)
• Take care not to turn the camshaft.

5) If the measurement exceeds the service limit, replace the
camshaft with a new one and recheck the oil clearance.
If the measurement still exceeds the service limit after
replacing the camshaft, replace the cam holder and the
cylinder head.
