If you are replacing a server component in the server, you need to turn off the server and peripheral devices,
and disconnect the power cords and all external cables.
To remove a 2.5-inch hard disk drive backplane, complete the following steps.
Step 1.
Unlock and remove the left-side cover (see “Removing the left-side cover” on page 182).
Step 2.
Open the bezel door (see “Opening the bezel door” on page 179).

Step 3.
Remove the 2.5-inch hot-swap hard disk drives (see “Removing a 2.5-inch hot-swap hard disk
drive” on page 199).
Step 4.
Remove the air baffle (see “Removing the air baffle” on page 188).
Step 5.
Remove the fan cage assembly (see “Removing the fan cage assembly” on page 261).
Step 6.
Note where the power, signal, and configuration cables are connected to the 2.5-inch hard disk
drive backplane; then, disconnect them (see “Internal cable routing and connectors” on page 33).
Step 7.
The illustrator shows the location of 2.5-inch HDD hot-swap backplanes.
