If you are replacing a server component in the server, you need to turn off the server and peripheral devices,
and disconnect the power cords and all external cables.
To remove the light path diagnostics assembly from the server, complete the following steps.
Step 1.
Carefully lay the server down on its side.
Step 2.
Unlock and remove the left-side cover (see “Removing the left-side cover” on page 182).
Step 3.
Remove the air baffle (see “Removing the air baffle” on page 188).
Step 4.
Remove the fan cage assembly (see “Removing the fan cage assembly” on page 261).
Step 5.
Disconnect the light path diagnostics cable from the system board (see “System-board internal
connectors” on page 25 and “Internal cable routing and connectors” on page 33).
Step 6.
Pull the release latch and push backward the light path diagnostics assembly to the rear of the
server to release it.

Step 7.
Stand the server back up in its vertical position.
If you are instructed to return the server component or optional device, follow all packaging instructions,
and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
