By default, the interval for sending LLDP packets is 30 seconds.

4.3.7 (Optional) Setting the Delay for Sending LLDP Packets
The delay for sending LLDP packets is the minimum delay for the interface module to send the
LLDP packets to the neighbor stations when the status of the device changes frequently. To
suppress the network topology flapping, you can extend the delay. In this way, the device will
not frequently send LLDP packets to neighbors. Do as follows on Switch A and Switch B.
Prerequisite
LLDP has been enabled globally.
Context
The delay for sending the LLDP packets should be set properly. The value specified by this
parameter is subject to timely adjustment according to network load.
l
The greater the value, the lesser the frequency of LLDP packets being exchanged. This
saves resources of the system. If the value is large, the S9300 cannot notify the neighbor
stations of its status timely. As a result, the NMS cannot discover changes in the network
topology in time.
l
The smaller the value is, the more frequently the local status information is sent to the
neighbors. This helps the NMS to discover changes in the network topology in time. If the
value is too small, however, LLDP packets are exchanged too frequently. This increases
the load on the system and wastes resources.
Adjust the value of
interval
based on the following rules because the values of
interval
and
delay
affect each other:
l
If the value of
delay
is not less than 1, you can decrease the value of
delay
regardless of
the value of
interval
.
l
If the value of
delay
is increased, it must be no greater than a quarter of the value of
interval
. Thus, when the value of
delay
to be set is greater than a quarter of the value of
interval
, the value of
interval
must be adjusted to be no less than four times of the value of
delay
. After that, the value of
delay
can be set.
Procedure
Step 1
Run:
