Context
Do as follows on the switch enabled with the SNMP agent.
Procedure
Step 1
Run:
system-view
The system view is displayed.
Step 2
Run:
set constant-ifindex max-number
number
The maximum number of interfaces with constant indexes is configured.
Frequent addition or deletion of interfaces causes the interface index file to occupy more system
resources. To avoid the interface index file exceeding the desired size, set the maximum number
of interfaces with the constant index feature.

1.21.4 Setting the Memory Distribution Mode of the Sub-interface
Index
The memory distribution modes of the sub-interface index can be classified into loose mode and
compact mode. Loose mode is used when the sub-interface numbering is discontinuous.
Compact mode is used when the sub-interface numbering is continuous.
Context
Do as follows on the switch enabled with the SNMP agent.
Procedure
Step 1
Run:
system-view
The system view is displayed.
Step 2
Run:
set constant-ifindex subinterface
{
dense-mode
|
sparse-mode
}
The memory distribution mode of the sub-interface index is configured.
When a sub-interface is created, the system generates an index image file for the sub-interface
in the memory in a specified mode. You may use various sub-interface numbering methods,
such as continuous or discontinuous distribution. Depending on the situation, set one of the
following memory distribution modes:
l
Sparse mode: applies to discontinuous sub-interface numbering and sparse distribution.
l
Dense mode: applies to continuous sub-interface numbering and dense distribution.
