4.3.1 Establishing the Configuration Task
Applicable Environment
The LLDP function is used to obtain neighbor information and discover the topology. As shown
in
, you can configure LLDP on Switch A and Switch B. Then, Switch A and Switch
B exchanges status information, and thus the NMS can collect the topology information about
Switch A and Switch B.
To facilitate NMS management, you need to configure management addresses on Switch A and
Switch B. In addition, you should enable the LLDP trap function on the switchs. In this way,
the switchs can send trap messages to the NMS when network topology changes.

The management address of LLDP contained in an LLDP packet is used to identify a device. You need to
select an IP address that the NMS can identify and manage easily, for example, the IP address of an MEth
