5.3 Safety Standards

NOTE:

The safety standard should not be changed

during

a manual test. Pressing this button during a manual

test will cause the temporary data buffer to be

erased

. Select the standard

first

, then proceed with manual

safety tests.

The

STANDARD

button on the MANUAL MODE menu allows you to select the electrical safety

standard to be applied. Available options are:

• AAMI-ES1
• IEC60601
• VDE0751
• IEC62353
• IEC601-BAT (IEC60601 standard for battery-powered equipment)
• AAMI-BAT (AAMI standard for battery-powered equipment)
• VDE-BAT (VDE0751 standard for battery-powered equipment)
• IEC353-BAT (IEC62353 standard for battery-powered equipment)
• IEC61010

When one of the "-BAT" safety standards is selected on the MANUAL MODE menu, buttons for LINE
VOLTAGE; LOAD CURRENT; and GROUND RESISTANCE are removed from the menu, leaving just
the LEAKAGE CURRENT and INSULATION RESISTANCE buttons, and other buttons related to
saving or viewing test data.

To save the safety standard in the non-volatile flash memory of ES601-US, select the desired standard via
the

STANDARD

button, then exit to the MAIN MENU. On return to the MANUAL MODE menu, the

safety standard will be restored from the flash memory.
