6.1.3 Tester (Test Device) AutoSequences

In addition to Safety and ECG AutoSequences, ES601-US provides for other types of automated tests. On its
left side panel, ES601-US provides six RS232 serial interfaces or "TESTER PORTS", which can be connected
to external measuring instruments or "

Testers

" by means of accessory adapter cables. Tester AutoSequences of

ES601-US remotely control these external Testers via the TESTER PORTS, allowing ES601-US to
automatically execute tests of medical device performance and acquire and store the results.

ES601-US provides Tester AutoSequences for Datrend products such as the

Oxitest Plus 7

pulse oximeter

tester,

Infutest 2000

infusion pump tester, and

Phase 3

defibrillator/pacemaker tester. AutoSequences for

Oxitest, Infutest and Phase 3 can be user-programmed and uploaded to the ES601-US analyzer by means of
corresponding modules of the ES601pc-US software package, which is described in Chapter 8.

Optionally, ES601-US can be interfaced to test instruments from manufacturers other than Datrend. The
Inspections and User-Tester Editor module of ES601pc-US software allows the user to program and upload
AutoSequences for up to five

User-Defined Testers

or analyzers. Compared to setting up Oxitest, Infutest and

Phase 3 AutoSequences with ES601pc-US software, AutoSequence programming for a User-Defined Tester
requires greater knowledge on the part of the user, for example, knowledge of the remote command language of
the Tester and an understanding of ES601-US

As illustrative examples, ES601-US is provided with default example AutoSequences installed for Fluke
Biomedical

Impulse 4000

defibrillator/pacemaker tester, as well as for Pronk

SimCube

®NIBP monitor tester.

Accessory cables are available for connecting ES601-US to test equipment from various manufacturers. The
table below lists adaptor cables for specific instruments, as well as the default TESTER PORT which can be
used for the RS232 serial connection. Note the TESTER PORT specified in the table is simply a factory default
setting, and this setting can be modified as desired by the user when a test is started; any of the six TESTER
PORTS of ES601-US can be used to connect to the specified instrument, via the specified accessory cable.
