8.6.2 Choosing the Standard
To choose a standard, use the Standard dropdown menu. The configuration of the display will change
depending on the options available in the safety standard. The standards that may be selected are:
AAMI ES1 Standard
IEC60601 Standard

VDE0751 Standard
IEC62353 Standard
AAMI-Battery Standard
IEC601-Battery Standard
VDE-Battery Standard
IEC353-Battery Standard
IEC61010 Standard

Note: Limits used are those specified in IEC60601 3

Edition. For equipment that must be tested
according to IEC60601 2

Edition, limits may be adjusted with the Safety Limits Editor of
ES601pc-US (see Section 8.7).
8.6.3 Limits (All Standards)
The limits of each test can be set to the values specified by the Standard, or user-defined limits may be
selected using the Safety Limits Editor (see Section 8.7).
8.6.4 Equipment Class (AAMI-ES1, IEC60601, VDE0751 and IEC62353)
A Class I device has a ground conductor (AC supply has 3 wires). A Class II device does not have a ground
conductor (AC supply has 2 wires). The equipment class may be selected by radio buttons.
8.6.5 Line Voltage (AAMI-ES1, IEC60601, VDE0751, IEC62353 and IEC61010)
Line Voltage is a test where ES601-US connects an internal voltmeter to the AC line input and reports the
AC RMS voltages seen from Hot to Neutral, from Hot to Ground, and from Neutral to Ground. This test
can be enabled under the Line Voltage radio group by selecting Measure, or disabled by selecting Skip.
8.6.6 Insulation Resistance (AAMI-ES1, IEC60601, VDE0751, IEC62353 and IEC61010)
Insulation Resistance is a test of the breakdown strength of insulating materials between electrical
conductors that should be electrically isolated from the ground connection at the AC receptacle. Two tests
