5.14.3 Using HyperTerminal to Capture Test Results
In some situations, the user may not have access to a personal computer which has the ES601pc software
package installed on it. As an alternative to utilizing the ES601pc software to download Test Record data
from ES601-US, a terminal emulation program such as Windows 98/2000/XP
HyperTerminal may be used
to receive Test Records transmitted over RS-232 by the REPORT OUTPUT menu, and then save the data
to a text file. Follow the Checkitems below to set up
HyperTerminal for use with ES601-US.
From the Windows desktop, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to
Communications and click on
HyperTerminal . You will be prompted to enter a name for the HyperTerminal
connection and select an icon associated with this new connection. Enter a suitable name, select the desired
icon, and click on OK. Subsequently, click on this icon from Explorer or the Start menu to avoid having to
set up a new connection every time you wish to use
HyperTerminal .
A dialogue box will appear asking which port to connect to. Select the appropriate COM port and click on
OK.
Another dialogue box will appear to configure the port settings. Configure the port settings as shown in
Figure 53
, then click on OK. As shown below, the COM port configuration settings are:
9600 Baud, 8 Data bits, Parity: None, 1 Stop bit, No Flow Control
