Manual Testing/Chapter 5

Equipment information is held in the temporary data buffer and can be updated at any time during a manual
test, until the data buffer is saved via the
SAVE RECORD
button. When a Test Record is saved, the
Control Number and Serial Number fields of the equipment information are automatically cleared. The
remaining equipment information will remain unchanged, so multiple devices of the same make, model,
location and facility can be tested without having to re-enter the information.
The equipment information fields are printed in the heading of the Test Report generated by ES601-US.
This information helps identify the equipment beyond the Control Number. This is helpful for those
facilities that do not use a Computerized Maintenance Management System, and rely more on hardcopy
records.
On the EQUIPMENT INFO menu, pressing the button located to the left of each data field activates the
QWERTY touch keypad with an appropriate prompt displayed on the top line of the display. Using an
external PS/2 keyboard to enter device information is also possible, and may prove to be more efficient.
Refer to Chapter 3 for further details on operation and features of the QWERTY touch keypad.
Device information fields accept up to 17 characters, except for the technician code ("TECH CODE"),
which can be up to 5 characters. The equipment information fields are retained in the temporary data
buffer, along with manually acquired safety test measurements.
Note the EQUIPMENT INFO menu will be automatically displayed by ES601-US if the Control Number
field is blank and the
SAVE RECORD
button is pressed. A Test Record
must
have a Control Number to
be saved.
In addition to the field-edit buttons, other buttons on the menu provide these functions:
BACK:
Returns the display to the MANUAL MODE menu
CLEAR ALL:
Clears all information fields shown on menu
CLEAR CONTRL NO.:
Clears control number field only
