6.1.4 Checklists
A "
Checklist
" is an automated sequence of work tasks, combining inspection, electrical safety testing, and
performance testing activities into one comprehensive maintenance procedure targeted at a specific kind of
medical device, for example, a patient monitor, defibrillator, anaesthesia gas machine, etc. The flash memory
of ES601-US provides storage for up to 500 Checklists.
Checklists are written on a personal computer, and are then uploaded to the ES601-US analyzer. Checklists
can be created using the Checklist module of the ES601pc-US software package, provided with the analyzer.
Alternatively, checklists for Fluke Biomedical
medTester 5000C
can be transferred from a Computerized
Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to the ES601pc-US software, where they can be converted by
the CMMS Interface module and then uploaded to the ES601-US. The Checklist and CMMS Interface
modules of ES601pc-US are described in Chapter 8.
Checklists are accessed by pressing the
CHECKLISTS
button on the MAIN MENU of ES601-US.
Increment/decrement buttons on the CHECKLISTS menu allow a Checklist title to be highlighted in the
list. The Checklist is then initiated by pressing the
SELECT
button.

ES601-US is supplied with three factory default Checklists installed in memory. The DEMO CHECKLIST
is an example which illustrates the use of various types of "
Checkitem
", the user and machine instructions
which implement the individual steps of a Checklist. QUICK PM and STANDARD PM Checklists are two
examples which implement the typical steps of a preventative maintenance inspection (a "PM"), integrated
with a basic electrical safety test which measures power cord resistance and chassis leakages. These examples
illustrate the basics of Checklist automation and provide a starting point for the development of additional
Checklists to suit the specific equipment to be maintained.
As with all automated tests performed by ES601-US, selecting a Checklist from the menu will cause the
EQUIPMENT INFO menu to be displayed. A Control Number and other equipment information may be
