REMOTE ACCESS TO SYSTEM
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This service feature allows an outside caller to access the system using C.O. network connection with-
out Attendant or station assistance. The outside user may originate calls over any or all of the system’s
facilities such as Tie Line.
STATION APPLICATION
Not applicable
OPERATING PROCEDURE
To access the system via a C.O. network:
1. Dial the number to connect to the system.
2. After Ringback Tone, Service Set Tone is received.
3. Dial the Remote Access code. If accepted, the System Dial Tone will be heard. If denied, Busy
Tone will be heard.
4. Dial the desired number.
SERVICE CONDITIONS
1. Remote Access code limitations:
a. In the case of a system with AP01 card

Number of digits : 1 digit - 10 digits (if Check Code is provided, limited to 8 digits)
If AP01 card is utilized for Authorization Code, the same number of digits must be assigned to
AUTHORIZATION CODE and REMOTE ACCESS CODE.

Number of codes : Up to 1,000 codes combined with AUTHORIZATION CODE and
FORCED ACCOUNT CODE.
b. In the case of a system without AP01 card

Number of digits : 1 digit - 8 digits
•
Number of codes : The maximum number of codes depends on the numbering scheme and
digit number. For details, refer to APPENDIX 3.
2. Dual Tone Multi-Frequency (DTMF) instruments are required for REMOTE ACCESS TO SYSTEM.
A portable tone generator may be utilized in circumstances where such instruments are not available.
3. A REMOTE ACCESS code must be programmed into the system to identify the user accessing this
service.
4. The REMOTE ACCESS code may be assigned a CLASS OF SERVICE limiting access to the system
capabilities by an outside caller.
5. REMOTE ACCESS codes can be entered from the MAINTENANCE ADMINISTRATION TERMI-
NAL (MAT), the CUSTOMER ADMINISTRATION TERMINAL (CAT) and SMART CONSOLE.
From SMART CONSOLE, 8 REMOTE ACCESS codes can be entered or changed.
6. A dedicated trunk is used for REMOTE ACCESS TO SYSTEM. The outside user dials a dedicated
number to access this capability.
