1. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

1.1 Moving Parts of the Take-up Unit

Be careful not to get your hair, clothes, or accessories caught in the moving parts of the
take-up unit. The moving parts include the cardboard tube holder assembly, driven by
the motor for paper winding, and the arm of the paper sensor.

The overcurrent protection feature, built into the controller of the motor, will
immediately stop the motor if, for some reason, an electrical overload occurs in the
motor. In this case, however, since the power is still being supplied to the motor, it will
attempt to rotate after the cause has been solved.

1.2 Electrical live part in the Take-up Unit

The winding unit runs on DC 24V/5V power, which is supplied from the printer, rather
than AC power. No power switch for the take-up unit is provided either on the printer
or the unit. To connect the take-up unit to the printer, plug the cable to the 24/5V
outlet on the printer. Be sure to turn off the printer before you plug the cable to the
printer’s outlet.

The electrical live part in the take-up unit is the cable units, the PCB, the motor, and
the paper sensor. The DC 24V source powers the rotation of the motor and the DC 5V
source supplies power to the other components such as the PCB and the paper sensor.
