2.1.8 Releasing the check valve

A check valve is placed between the ink bottle and the sub-tank, to prevent the back-
flow of ink.
If the valve remains empty for a long time, the stopper inside may become stuck and
may block ink flowing from the ink bottle, stopping it from reaching the sub tank.
Release the check valves before installing the ink bottles for the first time after
shipping. Also release them when the valves have remained empty for many days
following the "Drain ink" procedure. Use the valve releasing tool (QY9-0111) to send
air into the valve through the ink supplier of the tool's dummy ink bottle. The air
pressure will open the check valve.

The stopper normally becomes stuck about three or four weeks after the
ink has been drained out of the check valve. However, the period varies
depending on the installation environment.

Follow the steps next page to release the check valve.
