Part 1: Safety and Precautions

1. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

1.1 Moving Parts

Be careful not to get your hair, clothes, or accessories caught in the moving parts of the
printer.
These include the carriage and carriage belt activated by the carriage motor; a
caterpillar unit that interlocks with the carriage and protects the ink tube and carriage
flexible cable; motor-driven feed roller, eject roller, spur unit, and upper/lower cassette
unit; and pressure roller unit, purge unit, wiper unit, and cutter unit activated by their
own motors.
As a safety precaution, the printer will immediately stop the carriage motor and feed
motor when you open the top cover, upper-right cover, front cover, cassette A, cassette
B, or lower-left cover while it’s printing or in the ready/off-line mode.
