3.1 Ink Passage

3.1.1 Overview of the Ink Passage

The ink passage subsystem is made up of the ink bottle, sub tank, air buffer, BJ print
heads, cap, maintenance jet receive receptacle, waste-ink repository, waste-ink tank,
ink tubes that connect units, valves that can stem the flow of ink or air by clipping
their tubes to control the ink passage, the ink supply pump that is activated when the
ink is served, and the ink suction pump that is activated when the ink is removed.
The operations associated with the ink flow such as supply, circulation and suction
are performed via this ink passage subsystem.

Figure 4-9 shows a schematic diagram of the ink passage (for one color) and the ink
flow (for one head).
