<Cause>

The initialization of the operation panel failed when the power was turned on.
Communication error occurred between the system controller and the operation
panel.

<Probable faulty component>

Upper-right cover system controller.

<Action>

1. Replace the upper right cover.
2. Replace the system controller.

: Carriage home position sensor warning

<Cause>

The carriage home position sensor did not detect the carriage within the predefined
time period when the power was turned on.

<Probable faulty component>

Carriage home position sensor, linear scale, encoder sensor unit, carriage unit,
carriage motor, motor controller, mech. controller, system controller or head
controller.

<Action>

1. Check the path of the carriage:

Visually check the carriage path for abnormal conditions, such as paper jamming
the path.

2. Replace the carriage home position sensor.
3. Check the linear scale:

Visually check the linear scale for abnormal conditions, such as stains or damage.

4. Replace the encoder sensor unit.
5. Replace the carriage unit.
6. Carriage motor check:

Check the cabling of the carriage motor (3 phases), and replace it if faulty.
Normal value: the resistance between the three electrodes must be about 1.3

8. Replace the mech. controller.
