4.8 Power Supply
4.8.1 Power Supply Block Diagram
The universal-type power supply converts 100V / 240V AC power, supplied through
the AC inlet, to DC power output.
The power supply has two generation circuits: one for the power to drive the motor
(+24V) and the BJ print heads (+10.3V), and the other to operate the logic (+5V).
The output from the circuit for the +24V/+10.3V is controlled by the signal (ACTON)
sent from the system controller through the mech. controller.
The ACTON signal blocks the +24V/+10.3V supply when the printer is in the power
save mode.
The 10.3V power output is controlled by the signal (VH-ON) that is sent from the
mech. controller, which operates under the control of the system controller. This
10.3V is not supplied during some operations including the head replacement
sequence.
The 10.3V supply to the BJ print head is monitored at the carriage controller, nearest
to the BJ print heads, and the voltage information is sent back to the power supply
assembly. This technique provides a stable voltage for the BJ print heads.
