2.3 Print Control
2.3.1 Print Mode
This printer is capable of fast, high-quality output printing without blurs and
inconsistent ink-density distribution. The print mode is determined not only by
defined settings, such as the paper type and print quality, but also by the print data.
Printing is carried out using the BJ print heads located on the right and left sides for
each color, with a multi-pass printing technique. With this technique,
the printer not only allows for faster printing, but can also suppress any lack of
uniformity in ink distribution on the paper caused by different amounts of
ink being discharged from each nozzle. Also, blurs can be mitigated because the
multi-pass printing technology allows the ink ejected onto the paper in the previous
pass to be almost dry before the next ink ejecting occurs in the next pass.
This printer supports a maximum of 8-pass printing, depending on the required print
quality.
a)High speed mode
The high speed mode thins the image data out and prints a single band (equivalent to
the height of a nozzle array) in 2-pass (forward and backward) operation.
When the Fast option is selected for the print quality in the printer driver, this mode
is used.
In this mode, the original image data is allocated to the left heads / right heads for
each color according to the mask pattern data control. Then each set of data is
divided into two groups (data for 1st pass and data for 2nd pass) and printed by the
nozzle block control using the 2-pass, bi-directional operation.
b) Normal mode
In this standard print mode, a single band is printed in the 4-pass operation. When
the Normal option is selected for the print quality in the printer driver, this mode is
used.
In this mode, the original image data is allocated to the left heads / right heads for
each color according to the mask pattern data control. Then the data is divided into
four groups (data for 1st pass, data for 2nd pass, data for 3rd pass, and data for
4th pass) and printed by the nozzle block control using 4-pass, bi-directional
operation.
c) High quality mode
In this print mode, a single band is printed using 8-pass operation. When the Fine
option is selected for the print quality in the printer driver, this mode is used.
In this mode, the original image data is allocated to two of the left heads / two of
the right heads for each color according to the mask pattern data control. Then
each set of data is divided into four groups and printed by the nozzle block control
using 8-pass, bi-directional operation.
