5.3 Cap/Valve Open/Wiper Unit Up/Down
The following describes how to open the caps and the valves manually. If you need to
move the carriage or to perform "ink drain" when the power is turned off, the pressure
on the caps and lever has to be manually released. See
for information on the sensor and the flag.
5.3.1 Cap Open
Two types of cap must be opened (suction cap/protection cap).
1) Open the right cover.
2) Open the suction cap by turning the suction cap camshaft on the purge unit
clockwise until the notch of the sensor flag reaches the sensor. Turn the suction
cap camshaft by inserting a blade screwdriver into the notch on the suction cap
camshaft side.
3) Open the protection cap by turning the protection cap/ wiper rise and fall camshaft
in the purge unit counterclockwise until the notch of the sensor flag reaches
sensor. Turn the protection cap/ wiper rise and fall camshaft by inserting the blade
screwdriver into the notch on the protection cap/ wiper rise and fall camshaft.
(When the protection cap / wiper rise and fall camshaft is turned, the wiper unit
also rises or falls.)
5.3.2 A-H Valve Open/ Close
1) Open the right cover.
2) Open all the A-H valves by turning the A-H valve camshaft counterclockwise until
the notch of the sensor flag reaches the sensor. Turn the A-H valve cam
interlocking shaft by inserting a fine screwdriver into the A-H valve camshaft
through the hole.
3) Close all of the A-H valves by turning the A-H cam interlocking shaft
counterclockwise until the notch of the sensor flag has rotated approx. 205 degrees
with respect to the sensor. Turn the A-H cam interlocking shaft by inserting a fine
screwdriver into the A-H valve cam interlocking shaft through the hole.
5.3.3 A-C/ C-S Valve Open
1) Remove the right cover.
2) Open the A-C/ C-S valve by turning the A-C/C-S valve camshaft in the sub-tank
unit counterclockwise until the notch of the sensor flag reaches the sensor. Turn
the A-C/ C-S valve camshaft with a slotted screwdriver in the notch of the A-C/ C-S
valve camshaft.
3) Close the C-S valve by turning the A-C/ C-S valve camshaft counterclockwise until
the notch of the sensor flag has rotated approx. 225 degrees with respect to the
sensor. Turn the A-C/ C-S valve camshaft with a slotted screwdriver in the notch of
the A-C / C-S valve camshaft.
5.3.4 Wiper Unit Up/Down
1) Remove the right cover.
2) Lift the wiper unit by turning the protection cap/wiper up/down camshaft on the
purge unit counterclockwise until the notch of the sensor flag has rotated approx.
50 degrees with respect to the sensor. Turn the protection cap/wiper up/down
camshaft by inserting a slotted screwdriver into the notch on the protection
cap/wiper up/down camshaft side.
3) Let down the wiper unit by turning the protection cap/ wiper rise and fall camshaft
in the purge unit counterclockwise until the notch of the sensor flag reaches
