Timer

Generates the clock signals used by the purge motor, the wiper motor, and the
valve motor. The generated signals are sent to the system controller GA.

Serial I/O

The serial I/O supports serial communication between the carriage controller and
the motor controllers.

Parallel I/O

The parallel signal input is controlled by dipswitches.

b) System controller GA (IC572A)

Address decoding

The select signal, generated from the address specified by the CPU, selects the chip
required for processing.

Interrupt controller

The interrupt controller manages the interrupts requested from the motor
controller, the carriage controller, and the RTC to be processed by the CPU.

RTC control

The system controller GA converts the serial data from the RTC (real time clock)
into parallel data which can be accessed by the CPU. Also converts the parallel
data from the CPU into serial data.

Motor controller communication

The system controller GA performs serial command communication with the motor
controller.

Carriage controller communication

The system controller GA performs serial command communication with the
carriage controller.

PWM control

Drives and controls the purge motor, the wiper motor, and the valve motor based
on the clock signals sent from the CPU via the mech. controller.

Nozzle ejecting detection/control

Generates and samples the control signals used for nozzle ejecting detection, which
is performed via the mech. controller.

Operation panel control

Controls serial command communication with the operation panel.

LED lighting control

Controls the lighting action of the LEDs on the system controller with the 8-bit
port.
